From the company that invented the Dobro, all the way back in 1929, our fabulous square neck 60D is based on a 1930’s Model 60 – at the time, the second highest priced instrument in the Dobro catalogue.
In terrific, all original, player condition, accept for the case, the guitar boasts all of those top-flight features of the thirties model: all Maple body – with a rare one-piece back; Solid Maple neck, with slotted headstock; Rosewood board; and powerful 10½” Dobro cone and spider bridge in a Maple sound-well. Cosmetically, front and rear binding, plus the distinctive “tea-strainer” screen sound holes.
The 60D was designed for country and bluegrass, but is also popular with many delta blues players. Killer tone and great projection cut it beautifully, whichever way you lean, musically
Understandably the company’s most popular modern era model, the Dobro 60D can be found everywhere from festival stages and big-name studios to pub gigs and back porches. After the company was bought out by Gibson in the nineties, the 60D was re-named the Hound Dog model and Gibson shifted manufacturing to China, at their Epiphone budget line facility. But this is the real deal – a genuine Dobro 60D, fully hand built in Huntington Beach, California.
